Released in time for Christmas market, it entered the charts on New Years Eve 1966.
It said on the original cover that it was recorded at the Royal Albert Hall on the Autumn tour of England with Ike and Tina Turner and the Yardbirds, but the recording was actually done in Newcastle and Bristol, not at the Royal Albert Hall in London. In reality some of it was not live at all, Mick, Keith and Stu overdubbed some tracks, while others were studio recordings with crowd noise added to make it appear live. “Fortune Teller” and “I’ve Been Loving You Too Long” were not even played live on that tour! Before they start to play “Under My Thumb” it is Long John Baldry that can be heard introducing the band.
