Jumpin' Jack Flash - live in 1968

About this video

Another Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus performance sees the band performing Jumpin’ Jack Flash in a big top, an idea conceived by promo director Michael Lindsay-Hogg.

Originally intended for broadcast on the BBC, the band initially withheld the film, citing their own disappointing performance as the reason. There is some honesty in this. The band had not toured since April 1967, and for all the effort that went into the Beggars Banquet studio sessions, there's no substitute for playing live.

Furthermore, they'd been up all night; and while this is clearly an historic 'happening' (man) in the late sixties canon of such events, the performance here is obviously a little lacklustre.

The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus was finally released in 1996.
